Terms of Use
Effective April 15, 2026
Acceptance
By installing the TabMate extension or using the TabMate service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the product.
What the service is
TabMate is a browser-based research tool that uses the active page, selected text, and your workspace data to generate grounded responses. The product is in active development. Features, limits, and pricing may change. We may change or discontinue parts of the service with reasonable notice.
Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account or allow unauthorized access. Notify us promptly if you suspect a security incident affecting your account.
Anonymous trial accounts
If you open TabMate without signing in, a temporary anonymous trial account is created for you. Anonymous trial accounts are subject to stricter usage limits and shorter data retention than signed-in accounts.
Anonymous trial data is temporary. After a period of inactivity, the account and all associated data — including workspaces, conversations, and memories — are automatically and permanently deleted by our cleanup systems. We provide no guarantee of data availability or retention for anonymous trial accounts.
Anonymous trial users cannot manually delete their account or data through the extension. This restriction exists to prevent abuse of the trial system.
You can upgrade an anonymous trial account to a full account at any time by signing in. After sign-in, your existing workspace and data are preserved, the anonymous restrictions are lifted, and standard account management and data-deletion options become available.
Special provisions for student researchers
If you use the Student Researcher persona, you must be at least 18 years old. You must also certify that the information you provide for the age check is accurate.
You may not use TabMate to break your school's, college's, university's, or other institution's rules, honor codes, or academic policies. You may not use it to cheat, to gain an unfair advantage in examinations, assessments, coursework, or other graded activities, or to help anyone else do so.
If you cannot make those certifications, you must not use the Student Researcher persona or any related student-focused workflow in TabMate.
Acceptable use
You may not use TabMate to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Scrape, collect, or extract data from third-party sites in ways those sites prohibit.
- Generate content that is harmful, harassing, illegal, or deceptive.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract proprietary system prompts, logic, or data.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
- Circumvent usage limits, access controls, or authentication mechanisms.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms without prior notice in cases of serious or repeated misuse.
Content you submit
You retain ownership of content you submit through the service. By submitting content, you grant us the right to process it as necessary to deliver the service as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you send through TabMate, including page content from sites you visit.
AI-generated output
TabMate generates responses using large language models. Generated output may contain inaccuracies, errors, or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it for consequential decisions. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any generated content.
Billing and refunds
If you buy a paid plan or one-time credits, checkout and payment handling are processed by Paddle, our payment provider, as merchant of record. Subscription cancellation stops future renewals and generally leaves your access active until the end of the current paid period.
Refund eligibility, review standards, and top-up handling are described in the Refund Policy.
Availability and warranty
The service is provided as-is during early development. We do not guarantee uptime, data retention, or that any particular feature will remain available. We are not liable for loss of data, lost work, or any damages arising from service interruptions or changes.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product and business evolve. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
